The Tao of Politics

One of my main concerns is: how can I make a difference? There are thousands of political blogs out there. It’s easy to get lost in that ocean. So I may blog about politics on occasion, or I may blog about health issues, depending on where my interests lead me, and where I feel I can contribute something of significance.

Health Notes
Effective Measure has this about Dick Cheney and Birds of Mass Destruction.

We have recently been following the story about the EPA’s attempt to ban the chemical PFOA. Apparently this is not a new story, although it is new to us. There was a great article in The Raleigh News and Observer yesterday concerning the DuPont plant in Fayetteville, NC, and the appearance of PFOA in the groundwater near the plant. Of course there are a lot of manmade things in the environment that could kill us. PFOA may be one of them. Every time one of these threats comes to light, it emphasizes how little control we as individuals actually have over our health. Isn’t that just great?

Having said that about the chemicals in the environment, here is some research, for what it's worth, suggesting that broccoli, cabbage, and soy may help cut cancer risk.

And here is Anita Sharpe on putting synthetic chemicals into our bodies.
