The Tao of Politics

One of my main concerns is: how can I make a difference? There are thousands of political blogs out there. It’s easy to get lost in that ocean. So I may blog about politics on occasion, or I may blog about health issues, depending on where my interests lead me, and where I feel I can contribute something of significance.

The Tao of Bird Flu
29. The skies over Asia appear to be untroubled, as birds fly overhead. But something ominous and terrible is brewing there. The world holds its breath and waits.

Health Notes
US Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt says that bird flu might arrive in the United States soon. That’s interesting. Bird flu is off the radar of most folks. Looks like it might be time to start checking that radar more closely.

If you’re not afraid of bird flu, here are some things that might get your attention. Of course they also might seem too remote to justify any worry, and probably for good reason. We can’t go around worrying about every microbe that bursts upon the scene, can we?

You may think you’ve had a bad day, but at least you haven’t been to the hospital and been given fake blood, have you?

Here is good news, I think. Scientists have found a new compound that reverses some of the damage of Alzheimer’s disease, and also stops its progression. Maybe they’ll find a cure soon. Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease.

Several interesting developments regarding cancer: cannabis has been found to destroy cancer cells; Gingko Biloba may help fight cancer; and there is more than one treatment for prostate cancer.
