The Tao of Politics

One of my main concerns is: how can I make a difference? There are thousands of political blogs out there. It’s easy to get lost in that ocean. So I may blog about politics on occasion, or I may blog about health issues, depending on where my interests lead me, and where I feel I can contribute something of significance.

According to Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire, Hillary Clinton is having success raising money in Red States. That’s all well and good, but unless she has success in attracting VOTES in the Red States, she will lose in 2008.

Poliblog reports that John Edwards has scored higher than Hillary Clinton in an Iowa poll. This may reflect weakness on the part of Ms. Clinton rather than strength on the part of Mr. Edwards. Poliblog notes that Edwards’ result in this poll was actually lower than his 2004 Iowa result. In any event, I’d rather come in first than second, so congratulations to John Edwards. Maybe he can put together a winning campaign for the nomination after all. He’s a good man who would make a good president. Of course anyone would seem good after eight years of George War Bush.

Bill Frist said that some behavior he engaged in when he was younger was “. . . a heinous and dishonest thing to do,” and that he was “totally schizoid about the whole matter.” In fact he was, he said, “going a little crazy.”

Well, that’s enough to inspire confidence in Dr. Frist, isn't it? Confessing to schizoid behavior and to going "a little crazy" in his youth? I’m glad that he is so (unintentionally?) honest. Maybe all that makes him a good doctor. But we’ve had enough insanity in the White House and in the country for the last 5+ years. The Democrats get to run things beginning in 2007 and 2009. It is time that sanity ruled again.

As if we needed anymore evidence that the world is coming to an end, now the polar bears are eating each other, presumably because global warming has made it difficult for them to find their normal food sources. It is interesting to me how the Right complains about abortion, but they seem to have no problem with all the crimes committed against nature, such as global warming and genetic engineering. Only problem is, we are part of nature. And if you screw up nature, you’re going to screw up mankind as well.

I’ve heard of mudslinging in politics, but this Democratic volunteer seems to have gotten a little too enthusiastic, not to mention having exercised bad judgment, when she allegedly put dog feces in the mail of a Congresswoman. In her defense, she allegedly said that she was just returning what the Republicans have been giving everyone else for years.
