The Tao of Politics

One of my main concerns is: how can I make a difference? There are thousands of political blogs out there. It’s easy to get lost in that ocean. So I may blog about politics on occasion, or I may blog about health issues, depending on where my interests lead me, and where I feel I can contribute something of significance.

Vice President Duck! Cheney is scaring the American people again. It seems to me that the Vice President is using scare tactics and the war on terror for political purposes. I sincerely hope the American people will not be scared this time. We can all vote Democratic without fear that American citizens will die as a result. In fact, if you vote Republican you can guarantee that more American soldiers will die in Iraq. So which is really the party that keeps our people safe? There are 2600+ Americans dead because of the policies of George War Bush and Duck! Cheney. It was pointed out last night on the news that this number is approaching the number of casualties suffered on 9/11. Great! Stay the course? Not if the Democrats have anything to say about it. (Note: I would not have the same position if the 2600+ had died in Afghanistan. The war against the Taliban and Al Qaeda were necessary. But the war in Iraq was not necessary, and those deaths were not necessary.)

One further point: in the above article Vice President Cheney says “We were not in Iraq on September 11, 2001, but the terrorists hit us anyway.” True, we did not have 100,000 troops in Iraq on 9/11, but we had been involved in Iraq for decades; we had a presence in other Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia; and we were very chummy with Israel. The Vice President says being in Iraq was not the reason for 9/11? I think the terrorists have plenty of reasons to hate us. Our occupation of Iraq is just the latest one. (BTW, here is an interesting article on Mr. Cheney.)

Listen to my new song, Get the Hell out of Iraq. (See lyrics here.)

"Shooter" is amazing, just for his hubris.

A "man" who thought himself too good to serve his country in wartime has absolutely no ualms about condemning thousands of Americans to their deaths in a situation that anybody with half a brain knows we cannot prevail in.

And there are still people who worship him and his simian sockpuppet. I am amazed beyond words at that.
