Yesterday on Meet the Press, 9/11 Commission chairman Tom Kean, referring to the fact that police and fire department personnel still can’t talk to each other over the radio, even four years after 9/11, said “the special interests have prevailed up to this point” in preventing this communication between first responders. So I guess in the Bush White House and in the GOP Congress special interests are more important than the needs of the people. Commission Co-Chairman Lee Hamilton said, “It really approaches scandal to think that four years after 9/11, the police and fire still cannot talk to one another at the scene of the disaster.” Yes, another scandal for the White House and for the GOP.
